The congregation at Woodside Presbyterian Church just over the river in Yardley, Pa., dropped off a hefty donation of 4,000 hygiene bags and more than 100 pairs of socks that will be distributed to our patrons in the coming weeks. Congregants Harry and Susan Harris dropped off boxes that were assembled earlier this month by as many as 260 church members in less than two hours.
“We put together a very efficient assembly line where people grabbed bags – some several at a time – and had our youth group drop the products in the bags,” explained Susan Harris, who coordinated the effort for the first time this year.
Harry Harris, who owns a paving business, said the donation was special for him as he recalled Wilson, one of his employees who, he said was also a TASK patron.
“He was a good guy and good worker,” Harris said, adding that since Wilson passed away a few years ago, there have been several donations made in his memory.
As many of you know, socks and hygiene bags which contain everything from deodorant to shampoo are on the list of items that TASK always needs, so this generous donation is greatly appreciated. And for all the Wilsons that have come to rely on TASK and by extension – generous donors like Woodside Presbyterian Church – TASK sends a heartfelt thank you to you all.
