How Can I Help During the COVID-19 Outbreak?

“IN OUR NEARLY 40 YEARS OF SERVICE, TASK HAS NEVER TURNED AWAY ANYONE WHO CAME TO US FOR A MEAL AND WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF BREAKING THIS TRADITION NOW.” – JOYCE CAMPBELL, TASK EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

heartpicDear Friends and Family of TASK:

We at TASK hope you are taking the necessary precautions and keeping yourself and your loved ones safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.  As you surely know, New Jersey is under Executive Order 107 which shutters all non-essential businesses, encourages social distancing and asks residents to stay home whenever possible. TASK is a vital service and remains operational in a limited capacity. There is no admittance to the soup kitchen except for designated staff. We are however distributing two meals to each person, Monday-Friday, 10:30am – 2pm from our front door at 72 ½ Escher Street in North Trenton.

With that in mind, thankfully, many of you have reached out to us, asking what you can do to help the people TASK serves. Thank you for thinking of us and your neighbors.

HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU CAN DO

PROVIDE A FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION:

Financial donations are crucial to helping TASK now and always. Your dollars go farther with financial contributions as TASK has greater purchasing power and can buy two to three times more than an individual can at a local market. Plus, your donations are tax deductible. Donate here or visit http://www.trentonsoupkitchen.org

MAKE AN IN-KIND DONATION:

We are also accepting non-perishable food in airtight manufacturer-sealed containers as well as other goods. We know that some of our donors make trips to food markets or retail stores just for us. But even with the stay-at-home rule lifted earlier this week by Governor Phil Murphy, we at TASK encourage everyone to stay safe, limit your travel and when you do go out, wear a facial covering and adhere to physical distancing guidelines, keeping at least six feet from another person. We certainly do not want anyone making special trips to stores or markets on our behalf. However, if you have these items at home and/or want to order them through a delivery merchant (i.e. Amazon or Jet.com) please feel free to drop them off Monday-Friday, 8:30am-2p.m. at the TASK main building, located at 72 ½ Escher Street in Trenton, New Jersey.

The list below includes items we currently need most:

TO-GO MEALS – In a brown paper bag, please include an entrée, i.e. an easy-to-open can of pasta and sauce, tuna, and/or chicken salad with crackers; a beverage, i.e. a juice box or bottled water, canned fruit (no fresh fruit please), a snack bar, plastic eating utensils and a napkin.

HYGIENE KITS: Full-size and travel-size toothpaste, bar soap, deodorant, shampoo, hand, or body lotion and one disposable razor in a zip-lock bag

*

For all our savvy bargain shoppers, please consider making a financial gift before making a purchase. Remember, TASK can take your dollar farther because there are many items we can buy and get two to three times more product than individuals can at a retail store or food market.

Thanks again for your support!
